Where there’s a Will, there’s a great design

September 12, 2025

If you’ve never heard of First Story Designs, you will soon. A new brand set up by graphics arts student Will Peucker in Perth that is already attracting attention.

Will is all set to graduate from Curtin University in Perth’s southern suburbs late this year, thanks largely to support from Madalah and Shell – through their scholarship program for tertiary education.

And Will was asked to recently design the logo and all the graphics for the Madalah Ball in WA, attended by over 800 businesses, sponsors and supporters at the prestigious Crown Ballrooms.

“It was an amazing event and I felt honoured to be asked to design for the event – like giving back to those who had helped me,” Will said.

The Madalah event, supported by mining giants Rio Tinto and Hancock Prospecting, is a First Nations led not-for-profit organisation that offers secondary and tertiary education scholarships for First Nations students in Western Australia.

Since 2009, Madalah has provided First Nations young people from remote and regional communities the opportunity for a quality education.

The special art piece that raised $7000.

And Will, helped by the organisation and sponsor Shell, designed a special art piece that raised $7000 on the night to assist further scholarships.

His First Story Design brand is growing and once he has graduated he wants to expand his business to help other young Indigenous artists.

“I’d like to create a space for future Indigenous graphic designers and to help educate areas that are culturally appropriate,” Will, 22, said.

Will initially enrolled for an engineering degree.

Graphic design wasn’t Will’s original choice as a career though.

Will, a Bard man from Pender Bay with connections to the eastern Kimberly through the Kija people, originally enrolled for an engineering degree, then switched to chemical engineering before finding his niche and love – in graphic design.
