$28.5 million to empower Indigenous health research

The Medical Research Future Fund is to provide $28.5 million to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Community-Controlled program to support health research projects.

The successful organisation or consortium will:

  • partner with, and support, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and medical research projects and researchers, including by providing funding
  • build capacity and capability for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander researchers in the community-controlled sector
  • review the MRFF’s Indigenous Health Research Fund and develop a Strategic Priorities Investment Plan to inform the program’s funding decision

This grant opportunity actions the Productivity Commission’s first review of the progress on the National Agreement on Closing the Gap which championed self-determination in government programs.

Funding is from the MRFF’s Indigenous Health Research Fund.
