New employment pathways for Ranger programs

Education Services International Supply Group has teamed up with the Dareton Local Aboriginal Land Council and the Balranald Local Aboriginal Land Council to deliver two Ranger projects under the Federal Government’s Indigenous Rangers Program.

The Cultural Tourism Ranger Program (Dareton) and the Balranald Healing Country Project, is aimed to create long-term employment, build a skilled Aboriginal ranger workforce, and strengthen land, water and cultural heritage management across Barkindji, Mutthi Mutthi and Ngiyampaa Country.

Program highlights

  • Employment pathways for 20 First Nations Rangers, including dedicated roles for Aboriginal women
  • Accredited training, mentoring and clear career development pathways
  • Cultural site protection, habitat restoration and land and water management
  • Recording and sharing cultural knowledge to support future cultural tourism
  • Language strengthening and intergenerational knowledge transfer
  • Community-led governance through LALCs and Elders

Running until 2028, these programs will focus on building capability — supporting Ranger teams with the skills, systems and support needed to care for Country now and into the future.
