Merry Christmas to everyone
On behalf of everyone on the team at First Nations News, may we wish all our readers, supporters, sponsors and advertisers a very Merry Christmas.
2025 has seen the birth of this platform – aimed at providing positive news and opinion on anything First Nations.
We’ve started small but have seen phenomenal growth in recent months as more and more communities and Indigenous business organisations turn to us for their news – balanced and fair – and, we hope – offering a refreshing approach to how we produce and publish news about Indigenous Australians for Indigenous Australians.
We’ve had had some great stories and some stories of sorrow, some that we know have angered communities, and some of great achievement and aspiration.
Great achievements
Who knew there were Indigenous students working at NASA in the USA?
Who knew of the many Indigenous-led education and vocational training courses available to young people?
Who knew of the immense financial contribution Indigenous businesses make to the economy of Australia?
Who knew of the many amazing people out there thriving to improve their communities?
And who knew of the many people standing and demanding more from their councils, their State governments, and from our MPs and Senators Canberra.
We’ve discovered wannabe F1 drivers in Queensland, wannabe doctors in NSW, astronauts in Victoria, chefs, lawyers, emerging businesses run by some amazing young men and women.
Serving communities
There have of course been some tragedies to report and we hope we have covered them sensitively.
Communities from Broome and Karratha, from the Tiwi Islands, far North Queensland, Brisbane and the north coast of NSW. Inner city suburbs like Redfern now having a voice, as well rural and remote communities in every State and the Territory.
Sporting achievements in AFL, in NRL, cricket and many other sports – all becoming heroes for our young to look up to.
We hope we have treated everyone fairly – we are not here with agendas – other than to work with and report on some great people doing great things.
Have a great Christmas – and we hope you spread the world as we continue to grow in 2026.
