WA Government Innovation Grants Now Open

October 1, 2025

WA-based Indigenous owned startup and small businesses can now access grants to grow their companies thanks to a $40 million funding injection from the State Government.

Eligible businesses can take advantage of the latest round of the Innovation Booster Grant (IBG) and Commercialisation Bridge Grant (CBG) programs, which are now open.

The round of funding also has enhanced support for regional, female and First Nations-founded businesses.

Overcome barriers

The program backs early-stage founders, innovation-driven SMEs, and startups in Western Australia to strengthen capability and commercialise innovative projects.

The funds enable innovators to execute their ideas and overcome barriers which often occur with a lack of resources or capital.

“This year we have increased the funding available to innovators and introduced more support to assist businesses that are founded by women and First Nations people or based regionally,” Science and Innovation Minister Stephen Dawson said.

“Through our Made in WA Plan, we have committed $40 million over four years to support startups, scale-ups and emerging enterprises in growing their operations and commercialising breakthrough ideas.”

Since 2021, the IBG has awarded over $5.5 million to support 182 local innovation projects, assisting startups and innovative businesses to access the support services and expertise required to refine, test, protect, validate, and certify their innovation.

This year, Origin Business Consultants is also able to offer support and assistance through its free grant writing support services, ensuring First Nations businesses have the best chance of success.

Jeremy Wolf, Group Director of Origin Mob, said:

“I’m proud to be part of a business that can assist other First Nations businesses in accessing these crucial funds. These grants can make a real difference and we’re committed to ensuring our community has the support needed to thrive.”

You can contact Origin Business Consultants on (08) 6373 2548 for free grant writing support available to WA First Nations businesses.

Closing date

The CBG in the past year has awarded over $2 million to support 11 Western Australian innovators. Eligible applicants can receive grant funding between $50,000 to a new maximum of $250,000.

Applications for both programs are now open.

The IBG program closes at 4pm on October 10. The CBG closes at 4pm on October 24.
