Business grants creating opportunities in WA

January 19, 2026

21 Indigenous businesses in WA have been awarded grant funding as part of the Local Capability Fund’s (LCF) latest round, supporting them to pursue new opportunities and create quality jobs.

The businesses were part of dozens who have shared in the $3.15 million pot.

Grants of up to $50,000 were available to successful applicants encompassing the following four categories:

  • Regional Suppliers
  • Supplying Key Projects
  • Standards Compliance
  • Aboriginal Business

The LCF has helped to improve the capability, capacity and competitiveness of local small and medium-sized enterprises which supply products, goods and services to the State Government.

Funding across the four categories will primarily support new plants and equipment, fit outs and site upgrades, safety and compliance improvements and workforce training. Many local businesses will also use the funding to incorporate renewable energy and energy efficiency activities to support decarbonisation.

Since launching 15 years ago, the LCF has supported more than 870 local businesses and distributed more than $30 million in funding.

The 2025-26 Aboriginal Business Round, with clean energy incentive, provides funding support to Aboriginal Western Australian small to medium-sized enterprises to enhance their business capability and capacity to supply to major Western Australian State or Local Government agencies, the Australian Government and the private sector.

“My vision is for Western Australia to remain the strongest economy in the nation,” Premier Roger Cook said.

Supporting Aboriginal businesses

“That’s why we’re supporting WA businesses through the Local Capability Fund so they can continue growing, stay competitive and provide quality jobs to all Western Australians.

“Alongside my government’s Made in WA plan, these grants are ensuring local businesses are ready to operate within our State’s diversifying economy.”

Now in its eighth round, the program continues to support Aboriginal businesses in building capacity and unlocking new supply opportunities.
