BLT Energy signs heritage agreement with Yued Corporation

February 27, 2026

BLT Energy has signed an agreement with the Yued Aboriginal Corporation to protect cultural heritage on its proposed Red Gully BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) project near Regan’s Ford in Western Australia.

The agreement establishes the processes by which consideration is given to activities planned by project proponents.

“We believe the signing of the YHPA is the beginning of our relationship with the Yued people,” Francis Ip, Founder and CEO, BLT Energy, said.

“The majority of our founding team grew up in Perth, and we have set it as a mission for us to develop our renewable projects in a respectful manner, by carefully considering the impact they may have to local people and their culture.

“We look forward to working with the team at YAC to ensure we minimise and properly address any potential cultural heritage impact as we continue our development process for the Red Gully BESS.”

New chapter

Rewi Lyall, CEO of Yued Aboriginal Corporation his organisation welcomed the agreement, the latest in our ongoing mission to protect and promote Yued cultural heritage in this land.

“BLT Energy has made a commitment to work with Yued to learn from them about their land and culture. It’s another new chapter in this ancient story,” he said.

Red Gully BESS is a grid connected utility-scale battery to be developed in the Shire of Gingin in Western Australia.

Situated approximately 105km north of Perth CBD and 38km north-west of the town of Gingin, the plant will facilitate renewable energy transition by storing excess, affordable electricity generated in times of strong sun or/and wind and discharging when the people of Western Australia need it most.
