Camping Dogs stories brought to life
To celebrate NAIDOC Week, the Kamile Gallery in Perth has presented Camping Dogs, a remarkable collection created by renowned Martu artist Curtis Taylor in collaboration with Perth-based multidisciplinary artist Matthew McVeigh.
Together, they have brought to life nine Indigenous dog stories that celebrate the enduring relationships between people, dogs and Country.
Across Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, dogs have long held deep spiritual, cultural and practical significance.
As loyal companions, protectors, hunting partners and spiritual guardians, they reflect enduring connections to culture, community and Country.
Through contemporary sculpture, Camping Dogs honours these living traditions while inviting new audiences to engage with stories that continue to be shared across generations.
