$2m grant funding available to enable ‘Healing for Strong families’

February 3, 2026

Up to $2 million has been made available by the National Indigenous Australians Agency to enable Indigenous organisations to deliver healing services via the Bidyadanga Healing Model across Australia.

The Bidyadanga Healing Model reflects local priorities and cultural knowledge, integrating First Nations healing methodologies with relevant therapeutic practices.

The grant opportunity seeks providers who are known and trusted within the community, built genuine relationships and uphold cultural protocols.

Successful applicants will demonstrate cultural competence, capability and a long-term commitment to working alongside community to deliver healing services that strengthen identity, safety and resilience.

“Delivering this healing model requires more than service delivery; it requires relationship-building, cultural understanding and participatory engagement. Applicants are required to demonstrate,” the NIAA said.

Applicants will need to have community involvement and show evidence of strong local connections, trust, and readiness.

Cultural Competence, capability within their organisation and the ability to deliver outcomes are also important.

The grant opened on February 2 and will close on March 4.
