To kick off our Festive season, Supply Nation CEO Kate Russell tells us how she and her family celebrate…
How do you celebrate?
I take my jarjums back home, to Lake Macquarie and celebrate with our mob. There are prawns, sprinklers and sugar crashes.
Do you put up a tree and decorate your house or your apartment?
Putting up a tree and stockings is a family tradition, as is chasing off the family of huntsmen spiders that live in our tree from February to November.
With family at home?
My husband cooks a feast and we crack a bottle of bubbles. The kids play, we watch a Christmas movie in the evening and if I’m lucky, have a family nap.
Does your work, or has it, ever stopped a celebration?
Touch wood, no, it hasn’t. We close our offices and gift staff extra days of annual leave so they can unwind and prepare for another big year.
Christmas Eve … do you go to church or meet family friends for dinner etc?
Our family tradition is to have dinner at our local Chinese restaurant. My husband does so much cooking over the period, we give him the night off and enjoy dumplings and noodles.
Christmas Day…
If you have children, what’s the earliest you have been woken up?
My kids are awake before six normally, so Christmas is usually around 5am. They still believe in Christmas magic so who can blame them!
