Marlu strengthens mining footprint as it gears towards Defence sector
A proudly Indigenous and Veteran-owned business is continuing to make its mark across Western Australia’s resource sector, with Marlu Group WA being awarded major long-term service contracts on some of the State’s most significant mining operations.
Marlu Group Pty Ltd https://marlugroupwa.com.au, a Supply Nation–certified majority owned Indigenous enterprise, has grown from a small team of tradespeople into a multi-disciplinary contractor delivering comprehensive scaffold access, mechanical maintenance and shutdown support across complex mine sites and shutdown environments.

“Our journey has always been about creating opportunity — not just for our company, but for our people and our communities,” Managing Director Beau Goulter said.
“We’re proud to work with major operators who are opening doors for Indigenous businesses and trusting us with critical scope across their operations. Those relationships create real employment pathways for our mob.”
Capability to operate at scale
Last year, the company was awarded an Integrated Scaffold & SMP Services contract with BHP NIW, covering multiple Western Australian sites, including Kalgoorlie, Mt Keith, Leinster and Kwinana operations.

This was closely followed by the award of a Labour Services contract with Newmont Mining Services, supporting key operations under their WA portfolio with structured KPIs and performance management frameworks.
These recognitions reflect Marlu Group’s capability to operate at scale while maintaining strong safety systems, workforce development and compliance standards.
Over the past two months alone, the company has successfully delivered three major back-to-back shutdowns without incident, deploying workforces while maintaining its focus on safety, quality and cultural leadership.
Marlu Group continues to prioritise Diverse & Indigenous employment, trade development, and long-term career pathways with future goals to make a real positive impact for our communities and veterans. Its workforce is multicultural, highly skilled, and grounded in a strong culture of respect, accountability and professionalism.

As the company looks forward, the focus remains on sustainable growth, strengthening industry partnerships, and ensuring future generations of Indigenous tradespeople see mining and industry as pathways for leadership, stability and pride.
“This isn’t just about contracts,” Operations Manager Shaun Quinlan said.
“It’s about representation, opportunity, and showing that Indigenous-owned businesses can lead from the front in Australia’s hardest industries.

Beau and Shaun recently travelled to the Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition to strengthen relationships and explore partnership opportunities with leading defence and maritime industry players, positioning Marlu Group for upcoming growth across the sector.
“We believe that as a Supply Nation certified, majority Indigenous and Veteran-owned business, Marlu Group has a genuine role to play in Australia’s naval shipbuilding and sustainment sector,” Mr Quinlan said.

“Our scaffolding and access systems, mechanical maintenance and local workforce capabilities align strongly with Defence’s focus on Indigenous participation, local industry development and supply chain resilience.”
