Alice Springs grants kickstart $8.5m tourism boost

November 11, 2025

The Federal Government is to deliver more support to tourism businesses in the Red Centre, through the launch of the $1 million Alice Springs Revival and Resilience grant program.

The grant, part of an $8.5 million total package of support, is designed to revitalise the region’s economy which has faced challenges over recent years, including a downturn in visitation.

Two additional grant programs will be launched shortly to assist with the development of new experiences, as well as promotion of the Red Centre to attract more domestic and international visitors.

Important part of the economy

“These grants honour our commitment to keep the Red Centre at the heart of Australia’s tourism offerings,” Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell said.

“The Alice Springs Revival and Resilience grants program is designed to assist businesses to keep doors open, support local jobs and welcome more visitors to the region.”

Minister for Indigenous Australians, Malarndirri McCarthy said First Nations tourism was an important part of the economy in Central Australia, with the Red Centre welcoming visitors from around Australia and overseas.

“These grants are about backing local businesses, local jobs and strengthening communities,” she said.

“This tourism support package is another way the Government is investing in Central Australia and its people.”

Support for tourism operators

The Revival and Resilience grant program, which opens for applications today, will invest $1 million into the Alice Springs and MacDonnell tourism region to support small tourism operators facing financial hardship.

The grants will help tourism businesses with operational costs, enabling them to continue operating while reaping the benefits of broader Government initiatives to attract visitors back to the Red Centre.

Tourism businesses with fewer than 19 employees and an annual turnover of less than $5 million may be eligible for an Alice Springs Revival and Resilience grant.
